This updated and extended family home has been superbly enhanced by the current owners, who have shown a great eye for detail and demonstrated a real love for the home. The property would be ideal for any family; in a great location for schools with flexible accommodation.

How better to find out the real essence of a home, than from the owners? Mr Baker has offered his insight into what really sets this home apart.

“We’ve lived here for three years now; our decision to move has come earlier than expected due to our option of early retirement, when we first bought it, we saw huge potential to create a really lovely home; it hadn’t been updated since it was built. We took it upon ourselves to work through the house and grounds, improving as we went to create the unique spaces you see today.

The driveway was previously shared, so we created a private drive with parking for several vehicles, we then dismantled the original detached garage and built a new integral garage, allowing for the new master suite above. The parking is great for when we have family and friends to visit; we’re set back from the road, creating private, yet inclusive space, surrounded by lovely neighbours who we’ll be very sad to leave.

We designed a new layout internally, creating a family room and play room, leading to a large utility room with a door to the new integral garage, allowing for a nice flow. We also have a study and a lovely, cosy lounge.

We knocked down the internal walls to create a large kitchen/diner with a fantastic island and separate larder area with an additional fridge/freezer. This created a superb hub for the home, really lending itself to entertaining. With four young grandchildren running around there is no shortage of space for their energy and toys. In the summer, this room gets even better, with bi-fold doors leading out to a huge patio with a wooden gazebo and sofa area offering shield for the sun and shelter from the rain. Many fun days have been had with the kiddies running around on the grass, in and out the paddling pool, whilst the adults relax al fresco with a glass of wine. When the children get restless, we’re also extremely fortunate to have a fabulous and popular park at the rear, accessed by a path a few hundred yards from the house.

The work didn’t stop with the ground floor, as upstairs we have five good sized bedrooms, with en suites in the two largest rooms, fitted wardrobes to four, whilst the master suite (our pride and joy) also has a walk-in cupboard. All the bathrooms are brand new, two of which have been barely used since installation, whilst the whole house has been freshly painted and all the carpets are brand new.

Locally, in addition to the fantastic park, we have three very good convenience stores and are on a triangle of three good pubs in walking distance. The local schools are very good and popular, each infants, junior and secondary school are walkable; two of our grandchildren attend the infants and are very happy there. The location is also great for commuters, with good access to the M3, as well as the train station having a direct line to Waterloo.

We will leave this house with a heavy heart, as the short time we have lived here has probably been our happiest. We hope that the new owners enjoy it as much as we have.”
