Recently, we’ve been fortunate to have been invited to participate in a number of local events in the local Hook community, along with the surrounding areas. Two events which we were honoured to attend were the recent Robert May’s Prize Giving evening and the opening of the new building at Hook Junior School.
Branch Manager, Simon Dredge, headed down to Hook Junior School for the grand opening of their new building on 10th November, which was officially opened by local MP, Ranil Jayawardena. The new school block is spacious, light, modern and a fantastic addition to an already outstanding school. It was fascinating to see the history of the school, along with previous pupils. Met with a great turnout, there were some superb performances from the pupils, including music, dancing, singing, poetry and some marvellous speeches.
Each year, Robert May’s school hold an annual prize giving ceremony for the previous year 11 students, celebrating their GCSE achievements along with further academic awards. Mackenzie Smith sponsor the award for Business and Enterprise, which is given to the student who shows promise in this area; whether it is their choice for future studies and career, or they have demonstrated the attitude and passion needed to succeed in this field.
This year the award was given to student Maya Choonucksing. Sales Director Steve Tetlow and Marketing Manager Vicky Jarman were extremely honoured to not only attend the event and congratulate last year’s students on their hard work, but to also personally present this award, in the form of Amazon gift vouchers.
There were some wonderful speeches from the teaching staff, along with an address from Sir David Bell KCB, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Reading, who delivered some wise words regarding future studies and personal development.
For us, our local communities are so important. Not only do they provide a fantastic place which people love to call home, and aspire to move to, but they have also supported our business for many years now and we’re always happy to give back where possible and share in the successes of the local residents and groups.
If you have an event or community group which would like the support of Mackenzie Smith, be that our time, advice or financial sponsorship, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
