With the National Trust this week announcing that, where possible, it will be opening as many of its gardens and parks for free, but close its houses, cafes and shops.
We’re so lucky to have some beautiful National Trust spaces near some of our communities, including The Vyne, you can find all your nearby options on their website https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/.
However, you may not need to travel that far to enjoy the great outdoors as we have so many beautiful nature spots in our towns and villages, for a selection of larger parks, we’ve put together a few options below:
Fleet Pond is Hampshire’s largest freshwater lake, with 141 acres of woodland, heathland and a circular walk. There are multiple points of access and three options for the length of walk, ranging from 0.6 miles to 2.5 miles. https://www.visit-hampshire.co.uk/things-to-do/fleet-pond-circular-walks-p1502191
An 8.5 mile long route immersed in history, the Christmas Pie Trail leads from the edge of Guildford to the east of Farnham. A route suited to all abilities, perfect for cycling enthusiasts as well as for family outings. https://www.mackenziesmith.co.uk/the-christmas-pie-trail-a-festive-remedy-for-too-much-pudding/
This area extends roughly 10 acres of open public space, with a circular walk, the River Whitewater, ponds, woodland and more – it’s just to the side of Holt Park so is popular with dog walkers and joggers but is highly accessible for the residents of Hook.
Just a few miles from Hook and Hartley Wintney, this park is likely to see changes to its opening times due to the number of staffed facilities it offers. It is much more than your average park but does offer some beautiful outdoor spaces to enjoy. https://wellingtoncountrypark.co.uk/your-visit/
The entrance to the castle park can be found up the hill beyond the castle entrance. With free parking, this beautiful, medieval deer park extends 320 acres with woodland, plenty of paths, valleys, ponds and streams with panoramic views of Farnham. https://www.waverley.gov.uk/info/200073/parks_and_countryside/687/farnham_park
Enjoy the fresh air and the beauty of these wonderful outdoor spaces that are waiting to be explored.
