The Help to Buy scheme has taken off like a rocket, it being widely reported that around 4000 people have reserved a new home using the Equity Loan from the Home and Communities Agency (HCA) in the past two months.
Designed to help those struggling to save a deposit but capable of making mortgage payments the scheme started on the 1st April and will run to the end of March 2016 or earlier if the funding is all taken up sooner.
The fantastic thing about this scheme is that it’s not just aimed at first time buyers it will also benefit people looking to upsize to a larger family home.
For those wanting to buy a new home from one of the registered new homes developers only a 5% minimum deposit is required from the home buyer, supported by a maximum 20% Equity Loan from HCA and a mortgage of 75% of the purchase price of the newly built property.
