The art of conversation

April 17, 2020

Having spent the last 3 weeks or so working from home, one of the main things that has struck me is the fact that so much of our job, as an estate agent, is about the buzz we get from communicating.

This contact is not only with our colleagues, but just as importantly all our clients and the people we come across in our industry on a day-to-day basis.

Today, we simply must continue to stay at home, for everyone’s safety. However, when the time comes and it is safe to return to work, I will personally be taking the opportunity to reflect on the fact that whilst our profession is about selling or letting property, ultimately our job is all about relationships. The contact we have with everyone, from clients to conveyancers, colleagues, landlords and lenders is vital. Luckily, this is something we can all do with ease whilst isolating and, in fact, many of us have found that whilst isolating, these relationships and strong channels of communication are more important than ever.

I know, both personally and from speaking with my clients, how important communication has been over the past 3 weeks and how crucial it will continue to be for the remainder of lockdown. Whether that’s for a professional update, a brief catch-up, or most importantly perhaps, a friendly conversation.

For now, stay in touch, stay at home and stay safe.
