Q & A with Matthew Homes

April 22, 2020

We are privileged to work with some superb developers, finding our audience of buyers a new build house to call home.

New to the town of Fleet, we launched Fleet Mill from Matthew Homes a few weeks ago With a number of apartments having been released, we’ve spoken with Sales Manager, Christine Cope, to get her take on what makes a Matthew Homes property different and what prospective buyers can expect at Fleet Mill.

Christine offers excellent knowledge of both the new homes market and Matthew Homes as a developer. “I re-joined the company before Christmas after spending the last 7 years living in Spain. However, before that I worked with Matthew Homes for the best part of a decade as a Field Sales Manager. During that time, I assisted on a number of sites across the country.”

Christine is extremely passionate about selling homes, “I love the thrill and excitement of matching purchasers with their new homes. Every sale creates a new home for a family – it’s a wonderful thing to be able to help with.”

When it comes to the challenges faced with new homes, our readers in the industry will know how varied and obstacle-ridden a new homes site can be. From Christine’s perspective, “it’s always difficult to know when best to go to the market.  We combine the finishes, style and overall qualities of a development with the likely target audience, so the appeal should be there from day one, but as some builds can take significant time, the launch date is always a tricky thing to determine.”

Matthew Homes is a privately run, family managed business, this certainly sets it apart from many. “Whilst some would consider our set-up as ‘quaint’, and it’s certainly a benefit for buyers, that doesn’t mean we are small in operations. We currently have over 15 active sites across the south of England and a dedicated team to assist from HQ in Potters Bar, to site specific sales teams and construction workers, all of whom are currently adjusting their work life to meet the Government’s lockdown guidelines.”

Fleet Mill, launched in March, is a new development of one- and two-bedroom apartments, ideally located just a short walk from Fleet’s mainline station and picturesque walking areas, plus close to the M3. “We’re working hard to ensure it is an asset to the town and a stylish place to call home. The accommodation on offer provides a variety of styles that is completely unique to the local area.”

At Fleet Mill, Matthew Homes are looking to re-introduce their reputable quality, having previously developed the popular Ancells Farm back in the late 80’s and early 90’s. “It’s lovely to return to such a wonderful location – our work on Ancells Farm introduced us to Fleet, a great place to call home. Since then we have worked locally, with developments in Hartley Wintney, Hook, Ash Vale and more. On returning to Fleet, our goal is to create quality homes in a good location, at a realistic price. The location to the station is superb, together with access to the town centre, North Hants Golf Club, the M3 and more – ideal for both first time buyers and downsizers.”

Christine has been kind enough to offer her time during lockdown, and it’s safe to say these unprecedented times certainly present their own set of challenges. “Given we are in lockdown, I never cease to be surprised by the amount of people still wanting to buy. Those that have already reserved and begun the purchasing process continue to move forward with their move, people seem to be confident in their decisions and happy to ‘go with the flow’.”

If you are looking for a new home, Christine has some simple advice, “do your research, explore the financial options available and reserve as soon as you are able to, in order to ensure you get the home you really want.”
