The builder will now start work on delivering 300 homes at Albany Park set off Redfields Lane. The site will comprise of 180 private and 120 shared ownership/affordable rent properties, alongside a doctor’s surgery, food retail outlet, sports facilities and public open spaces.
Chris Hamilton, managing director for Martin Grant Homes, said: “The intention at Albany Park is to deliver a development that will enhance the local area and make a significant contribution to the housing and infrastructure needs of both Church Crookham and the wider Hampshire communities.
“We are delighted to be back building in the village again after so many years and continuing to help attract families and young first time buyers to live in this vibrant Hampshire village community.”
As part of the Section 106 Agreement, Martin Grant Homes will provide new sports pitches and a large pavilion adjacent to the Zebon Centre. A synthetic football pitch, Multi Use Games Area (MUGA) and four separate grass football pitches suitable for younger age groups will be installed. There will also be vehicle and cycle parking.
With the new development set on the edge of the protected Zebon Copse nature reserve and the Basingstoke Canal (SSSI), the builder will also deliver a large SANGs (Suitable Alternative Natural Green Space) area, adjacent to the development. This will consist of walking paths, boardwalks, new planting, ecology features and a public car park. This will be handed over to Hart District Council, alongside funds for them to continue the ongoing maintenance of this natural area.
This will be the second development that Martin Grant Homes has built in Church Crookham after the adjacent Zebon Copse development, built during the 1990’s.
The planning Architect for Albany Park is ECE Architecture, which built the Mary Rose Museum in Portsmouth and Birkbeck College, University of London.
Martin Grant Homes has started ground works at the development and a sales and information centre is planned for the autumn this year at the entrance to the development.
