Keeping Your Sale Moving and Why Communication Matters

Buying and selling a property can be an exciting time, but how long do you have to wait before the completion?

New research from The Voice of the Agent highlights just how much uncertainty can arise during this part of the process. Across Great Britain, The Voice of the Agent found that 72% of home movers experienced delays, whilst an estimated 58% of UK property sales fall through after an offer has been accepted.

For sellers, this highlights the importance of having an estate agent who doesn’t simply stop once a sale has been agreed.

Communication is Key

Property transactions involve a number of different people, from buyers and sellers to solicitors, conveyancers, mortgage advisers and other estate agents within a chain. The research found that relationships between the different property professionals are generally positive, but not always as strong as they could be. So, what we do differently at Mackenzie Smith to best avoid these issues?

Keeping everyone informed and ensuring that queries are dealt with promptly can make a significant difference to how smoothly a transaction progresses.

According to The Voice of the Agent, 10% of estate agents were also found to prioritise integrated digital systems as a solution to improving transactions. At Mackenzie Smith, we know that whilst technology has a role to play, effective communications and taking responsibility for progressing our sales is crucial.

Rated the Best Estate Agent on Trustpilot

We are proud to be rated the number one company in the Estate Agents category on Trustpilot, with an excellent TrustScore from more than 2,100 reviews.

Serving homeowners across North Hampshire, Surrey and Berkshire, our reputation has been built on the personal service and local knowledge we provide throughout the property journey.

Communication is one of the areas our customers regularly highlight in their reviews. Recent feedback includes:

“My experience with the Yateley branch of Mackenzie Smith was first class. All the staff members were both professional and friendly. The level of communication throughout the process was excellent. They managed all aspects of the sale very well.”

Alan Harding, 5-star Trustpilot review

Another recent seller specifically praised our Sales Progressor, Adam Partridge for the work he did in progressing their sale:

“Special call out to Adam at Mackenzie Smith who ‘held my hand’ throughout the sale of my late Aunt’s flat. He was professional, knowledgeable and friendly. Adam regularly kept in touch with me and updated me on the sale by email and phone, he was of real help in progressing the sale. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Mackenzie Smith; they certainly deserve my 5* rating.”

Silverbridge Properties, 5-star Trustpilot review

We’re also receiving some fantastic Google reviews, such as this one for our Fleet team, highlighting how proactive our agent was.

“Alex was fantastic. He was always available to answer any questions or concerns that I had. He made the whole process stress-free!

Melissa Jacobs, 5-star Google review

These comments reflect an important part of our approach; the service doesn’t end when an offer is accepted.

Dedicated Sales Processors

Our Sales Processors are purely focused on reaching the completion of the sale.

Once a property is under offer, they work to keep the transaction moving, liaising with all parties involved. This includes communicating with solicitors and conveyancers, speaking to other estate agents involved in the chain and helping to identify and progress outstanding matters.

For sellers, this means having someone actively monitoring the transaction rather than simply waiting for updates to arrive.

Property chains can involve several moving parts and delays are not always within an estate agent’s control. However, regular communication, persistence and a clear understanding of what needs to happen next can help prevent avoidable delays from becoming bigger problems.

From Offer to Completion

All of the above demonstrates just how important the end sale part of the service can be. With the potential financial and emotional cost of a failed transaction, having an experienced team working to keep a sale on track matters.

Our fully verified Trustpilot reviews are a reflection of the service our customers experience, and we are particularly proud that communication and support are so frequently recognised in their feedback.
