Housing market still open!

November 02, 2020

Following Saturday’s announcement for the upcoming lockdown on Thursday, we wanted to reassure you of our plans.

Secretary of State for Housing, Robert Jenrick has confirmed that house moves can go ahead, and the housing market will remain open throughout the lockdown period.

Renters and homeowners can still move and view property.

Removal firms and estate agents can stay open.

Construction sites can continue.

Tradespeople can enter homes.

Keeping the housing market open will help those already on the market and in the process of buying and selling, but it also means those who were still planning on taking advantage of the stamp duty holiday can still make plans. However, if you are looking to benefit from the stamp duty holiday, we would recommend speaking with your local Mackenzie Smith branch as soon as possible.

The fact we can stay open means we must take extra care and remain vigilant in the efforts to keep colleagues, clients, and our local communities safe.

We will continue to review and apply covid measures and would ask that if you are looking for a home and planning to view, please make yourselves familiar with these, along with those who are seeking a valuation. https://www.mackenziesmith.co.uk/covid-19-safety-guidelines/

The key criteria which we will be asking people to adhere to are social distancing, PPE, maximum of 2 people viewing and homeowners must stay distant or out of the home when viewings take place, but please do visit our website for full details to ensure we can all stay safe and responsible.

Thank you for your efforts in following our guidelines, let’s keep the country moving.

Stay safe, stay positive, and please do get in touch if we can offer any support during this time.
