The annual Award Ceremony at Ash Manor School took place on the evening of Thursday 3rd of April to celebrate the many achievements of the pupils last year.
Trophies and awards were handed out for all the educational disciplines in each school year group as well as for transition, achievement, endeavour, sports, music, community, commitment, contribution and leadership; all desirable attributes for these up and coming young people.
The speaker was Mr Simon Jarvis, Principal of Farnborough Sixth Form College and the special guest was The Mayor of Guildford, Councillor Diana Lockyer-Nibbs.
We would like to congratulate two pupils who were awarded the Mackenzie Smith Exceptional Achievement Award for their performance at The Big Interview; Emily Hilling and Tom Sherreffs.
We feel it is important to recognise this performance and the importance if the ‘Big Interview’ day that Ash Manor School carry out. Bringing people from local businesses into the school to interview year 10 pupils gives an essential introduction to what might be expected in the business world.
A strong performance here shows great confidence and bodes well for the future. For some it may have been a bit of a bump to reality but a great learning process to help them prepare for the wider world after school.
