Bordering Berkshire and Surrey, the North Hampshire area lies approximately 35 miles south west of central London. Both main line rail links and motorway access providing connections to the capital in less than an hour and parts of the South Coast are also just as reachable in the same time frame. For the international commuter, both Heathrow and Gatwick Airports are reached via the motorway networks and the Channel Tunnel can be found in less than a 2 hour drive.

Popular with visitors North Hampshire has many areas of beautiful, tranquil, unspoilt landscape. Featuring large expanses of ancient royal hunting grounds of forests and heathland, stunning downlands categorised as Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and an abundance of quintessential English villages, North Hampshire provides an ideal environment for all age groups to pursue their individual lifestyles. Picturesque villages with thatched cottages, flower decked country pubs, village duck ponds and historic country churches epitomise the North Hampshire countryside.

The countryside provides the opportunity to take quiet walks, have a tranquil spot of fishing or take part in more adventurous activities such as Go-Ape, canoeing, cycling, gliding and paintballing.  There are many golf courses in the area providing challenges for all levels of skill in a very scenic setting. There are many sites of historic interest including Butser Ancient Hill Farm and Winchester Cathedral. Hampshire has been home to famed scientists and authors including Jane Austen, Charles Dickens, the natural history pioneer Gilbert White, and is the birthplace of engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel.

Basingstoke Town and Winchester City are the larger destinations for shopping and entertainment within the county however Guildford and Camberly are not far over the Surrey border.  Basingstoke is home to the Festival Place shopping centre with an extensive range of high street shops whereas Winchester High Street is lined with a mixture of independent shops, boutiques, art galleries and high street stores. The smaller market town of Farnham is also peppered with independent boutiques reflecting the affluent tastes of the area.  Hartley Wintney Village is a reputable gem for antique boutiques.

There are several business centers in the region, with the UK headquarters of De La Rue, Sun Life Financial of Canada, The Automobile Association, ST Ericsson, Huawei Technologies, GAME, Motorola, the leasing arm of BNP Paribas in the UK, and Sony Professional Solutions (Europe) based in Basingstoke. Hook is the location of the operational headquarters of the United Kingdom’s largest cable television provider, Virgin Media Inc, formerly NTL and Telewest; other companies locating in Hook are BMW Group Financial Services, Lenovo, Serco, Trimble Navigation, Old Mutual and EDS. Farnborough is home to the international headquarters of BAE Systems and QinetiQ making it a specialist area for aviation and defence, hosting the International Air Show biannually.  Other industries include drug manufacture, IT, communications, insurance and electronics.
