Why buyers could have more choice this summer

July 06, 2022

There is no denying that 2022 has been a busy year for home-buying.

We have long reported the imbalance in homes for sale, to buyers in the market. This has been the key factor in the record house prices that we’ve witnessed in recent months.

The market has been incredibly beneficial for those looking to sell quickly, and at an excellent price. With so many buyers searching and limited availability in the market, many homes have been sold stc in record-time.

If you’ve been wanting to move, but waiting to find something you like, now could be your time to sell.

We’ve started to see a flurry of new homes coming onto the market, which could help to ease some of the exceptional demand.

Rightmove has recently reported 14% more property for sale in comparison to this time last year. On 22nd June, Rightmove also saw the highest number of valuation requests since May 2021, which is a real sign of what’s hopefully to come, especially as that’s the fourth busiest day ever.

Whilst the supply is increasing, the demand for property in the local area remains exceptionally high. So if you’re planning a move, it’s important to give yourself the best chance of getting the home you want, by getting an offer on yours.

If you are waiting for the perfect property to become available, you may miss out, as buyers will choose the strongest offer, and often that is one with a home already under offer.

If you are interested in selling your property or would like up-to-date valuation advice, please contact your local branch.
