It’s Father’s Day this Sunday, so if you are at a loss as to what you can do to make him feel special this year, take a look below at some great local possibilities…

With the weather looking promising, why not enjoy the great outdoors and immerse yourself in the peace and tranquillity of the local countryside, with a long distance walk along the beautiful Blackwater Valley River. Beginning at Rowhill Nature reserve and finishing 20 miles later in the reputable village of Eversley, the nature reserve offers 55 acres of woodland, heathland, meadow, ponds and streams along the borders of Aldershot and Farnham. You may even be lucky enough to spot some of the season’s dragonflies, whilst it is known to be the home of a vast variety of wildlife, including numerous different bird species and otters. For more information, contact Aldershot tourist Information on 01252 320968.

You could treat him to a relaxing boat trip on the Basingstoke Canal from Mytchett on the Rosebud at just £6.50 per adult with family admission for just £19.00. Book in advance or pay on the day, over the phone on: 01252 370073, or by popping into Guildford Tourist Information Centre.

If your Dad has a love of classic cars, he can peruse a wide collection with a visit to Basingstoke’s Milestones Museum. Hosting a Father’s Day special, Dad can also enjoy a free treat from their 1940s style sweet shop, or even a free half pint from the Edwardian Pub. If your father is an adventurous type, he might want to try a spot of flying – meaning you could also add a spitfire Simulator experience to his special day!

If you fancy taking him out for a meal, you can celebrate with some al fresco dining at The Aviator in Farnborough, with a choice of a barbecue on the Brasserie and Terrace, a salad and a pint or perhaps a more traditional afternoon tea. A number of other local pubs and restaurants are, of course, also offering up Father’s Day specials, with the Swan in Ash Vale presenting a three course set menu with a variety of options, whilst the Frog and Wicket in Eversley features a generous menu including Owton’s dry-aged 12oz sirloin steak on the bone, with limited bookings available!

If you have a young family in need of father’s day gifts, you can visit Camberley shopping centre, who will be hosting Father’s Day activities on the 20th and 21st of June, where smaller children can create personal, handcrafted gifts.

Whatever you do to spoil your Dad this Sunday, have a great day from everyone at Mackenzie Smith!
