Every other week we shine the spotlight on a different individual within our team. Across our branch network, and within our Lettings, Land and Management teams, we have an experienced and passionate group of people working hard to sell and let property, promote it effectively and make our clients’ lives that little bit easier.
This week we’re looking to the upcoming launch of our Yateley office, to introduce Branch Manager Gavin Fouracre. Gavin joined Mackenzie Smith in February of this year, with Yateley opening in just a few weeks’ time he has worked with both our Fleet and Hartley Wintney teams ahead of taking the helm at our sixth, and newest branch.
Whilst Gavin has only been with us a short while, he brings a wealth of experience with him, having first started his estate agency career in Weybridge, back in 1988. “When I left college after my A levels, I wasn’t quite sure what I wanted to do. An old school friend had just started in estate agency and was driving around in a better car than everyone else my age, a bright red Alfa Romeo. So I went to an open interview session for a large agency group and started a few days later, I did have to wait a few months until I got my Alfa Romeo though.”
With almost 30 years in the industry, it’s the networking that keeps Gavin motivated. “I love meeting new people and helping them to achieve their moving plans. I’ve also started to really enjoy the photography side, something that I didn’t initially look for in the role, I’m a bit of a perfectionist, so really enjoy this aspect of the job.”
Starting in Weybridge, Gavin then moved onto London and headed over to Hampshire, where he worked before joining our team earlier this year. But what made Gavin consider Mackenzie Smith?
“Firstly, it’s a strong and well established brand, I’ve personally used the company to both buy and sell myself so know their service standards. Secondly, I like the fact that Mackenzie Smith allows you to be yourself and use your initiative, rather than have a corporate, fixed set-up.”
Gavin has helped to sell a wide variety of homes in his time already at Mackenzie Smith, including a number of homes in the Yateley area, which he has been managing from our other offices in advance of our village centre office opening next month. The diversity in homes available is an appealing aspect for our Branch Manager. “As well as stunning countryside, lots of green areas and of course the local lakes, it’s the variety in Yateley that really makes it interesting. There is a really strong community here which is evident in the generations that dwell in the area. I’ve already been involved with first time buyers, families, estates and residential properties and we’ve not even opened yet. I can’t wait to get started in Yateley, I think it’s a fantastic and natural addition to our existing branch network.”
Gavin will be joined at our Yateley branch by two of our existing Senior Client Managers, Kieran Egan from our Fleet branch and Gavin Fry from our Farnborough team. As the new manager of this passionate and experienced team, what does Gavin Fouracre hope to offer the residents of Yateley that might differ from the current estate agency market there? “The network of offices we have, and the way the staff cooperate will give our clients an advantage in their sale. Our land team are always on hand to offer advice and input to help resolve any queries, our lettings department can assist in investment queries and our entire sales team is full of experienced individuals that offer a uniform ethos of delivering great customer service. Knowing the team in Yateley, I’m tempted to use the slogan of a famous car rental company, “we try harder”, often going the extra mile makes a huge difference”.
When Gavin isn’t running his branch, he can often be found running marathons. Having completed a number of full marathons, he also took part in this year’s Fleet Half Marathon, donning the brand colours to fly the flag for Mackenzie Smith.
