“Rightmove has reported that houses listed for sale have made their biggest monthly jump in price in the last 20 years.

Prices are now 9.5% higher than a year ago, the highest annual rate of growth since September 2014.

This is caused by the lack of supply of property, driven by many would-be sellers holding off, before securing a property to buy. This is a classic ‘chicken – egg’ scenario that won’t be eased until sellers commit.

Trying to secure a property in a highly competitive market is almost impossible, as this group of potential buyers is competing with buyers who are in a much stronger position.
