We’re pleased to announce that with immediate effect, our Sales Director Steve Tetlow has been appointed Managing Director of Mackenzie Smith.
Steve joined the firm on day one, when Mackenzie Smith first launched in February 1992 and has worked with Mackenzie Smith’s founder, now Chairman, Ed Mackenzie Smith since he first became an Estate Agent in 1978.
During this time, Steve has built up a considerable knowledge of the industry, primarily through working in residential sales, with thorough working knowledge of land and new homes. Steve’s new role involves overseeing all six residential offices, assisting Ed Mackenzie Smith in the new homes department, as well as working closely with our land and lettings departments.
Commenting on Steve’s appointment, Ed Mackenzie Smith said, “From a personal point of view I’m delighted. Steve is a superb estate agent, believes in our ethos of delivering outstanding customer service and has years of relevant experience to bring to the role. Steve and I have planned this transition over a number of years and to a certain extent nothing changes, as he has been carrying out the role in a practical sense for the last two years. However, this announcement not only formalises matters but clarifies our structure, for clients and colleagues alike.”
Steve Tetlow added, “I am absolutely delighted and immensely proud to have been given this opportunity. I passionately believe in delivering excellent customer service and results to all of our clients and also take great pride in working alongside a team of totally committed and dedicated colleagues, who all feel as I do. Having served the communities of several local towns and villages over the last 25 years, our ambition as a company is to continue to do so for many years to come. I am really excited about continuing to ensure that we uphold the values on which the company was successfully launched back in 1992.”
On taking a different role within the company himself, Ed adds, “Letting go is no easy task for any founder and owner of a company, but this decision has been made so much easier for me as Steve recognises the importance of retaining a close working relationship with our clients. A key, and often forgotten, attribute to succeeding in business is the sheer hard work required to make things happen. With Steve I know this will be maintained. He is also a long term shareholder in the company and shares my passion and determination for the continued growth and development of Mackenzie Smith.”
Ed Mackenzie Smith, now Chairman, continues with his day-to-day work in the company, focusing not only on setting the direction of the business, but continuing to work closely with our key land and new homes clients.
