Rising rental demand good news for landlords

March 04, 2020

Reports from Arla Propertymark indicate that demand in the rental market is flourishing.

Estate Agent regulatory body Arla Propertymark reported a whopping 88 potential tenants registered per member branch in January. This was up by an impressive 57% on December, in which 56 were registered. The demand for rental accommodation supersedes even that from the same time last year, when January 2019 was at a fairly high rate of 73.

With this trend set to continue, landlords would be wise to take advantage of a market offering ample opportunity. To those considering letting properties and perhaps in two minds, this would be a great time to seek advice.

“In the Farnborough area we have found that demand for rental property is outweighing supply, with a number of applicants missing out on the property they want due to them being let in such a short time. This is definitely a good time to be a landlord, with a broad variety of potential tenants seeking a new home.”

The financial statistics also denote positive implications for those letting property. The Index Of Private housing Rental Prices found that private letting prices in the UK have been increasing steadily in recent years. Last May, England experienced a growth of 0.1% against the previous year.
