The market is constantly changing. In a fast paced environment, today’s trend will soon be yesterday’s news.
The housing industry is abound with new technological tools to make it easier than ever to buy or sell a home. Property portal giants Rightmove and Zoopla are frequently evolving to offer school checker, house prices, neighbourhood guides… the list goes on and on to make a buyer’s search as streamlined as possible.
Technology will keep evolving, and we will continue to invest in the most important areas to benefit buyers, sellers, tenants and landlords, however, in a world where quick communication is paramount, you should never undervalue the knowledge, advice and expertise of a local agent.
The property industry is always in need of more properties to sell, demand is high in all price ranges, what I’ve noticed in the last few months is that more buyers are now coming into our offices to personally register. This is of course common practice, but as the market has moved more online, it is noteworthy that more people are now taking the time to physically search for properties, a potential reflection on the constant demand for properties. One applicant commented that they wanted to be notified of a property before it went live on property portals, how refreshing it was to hear that from a buyer; fully understanding the importance of making human connections, the ability to put a face to a name should never be undervalued. My response was that “when a suitable property comes onto the market, you’ll be the first person in my mind to call.”
Could it be that old fashioned methods of buying a home are coming back in a big way? Vinyl records made a comeback, e-book sales are declining whilst printed book sales rise, perhaps people are getting tired of this faceless, intangible world. From a seller’s perspective, it’s important you have the right representation across the internet, but also in person.
My advice to any potential buyer is to come in and tell us what you’re looking for. The internet is a fantastic tool, but we know sooner than anybody when a house of your requirements is coming to the market, wouldn’t it be great for the property to come to you to avoid missing out on your dream home?
