We’re pleased to support our local communities in a variety of ways, as sponsors of the wonderful Hook Players, we wanted to take this opportunity to introduce their latest offering, coming up in April…

Hook Players are proud to present their latest production for April 2019. Directed by Elizabeth Knight, “Duets” is a series of four short plays by acclaimed playwright Peter Quilter. A gloriously funny examination of the chaotic world of love, relationships and why the grass is never greener. It pays a hilarious tribute to the strength and madness of the human heart. Four sets of characters, four crucial moments.

Blind Date:  Jonathan and Wendy are on a blind date and hoping to get it right this time even though they’ve never got it right before.

Cast: John Hamshare – Jonathan       Helen Carter – Wendy

Secretarial Skills:  Barrie is not really interested in women but Janet sees that as no reason to stop trying.

Cast:   Sam Elliott – Barrie           Jennie Barr – Janet

The Holiday: (Directed by Paul Cuttle) Shelley and Bobby are drowning in cocktails on holiday in Spain while trying to finalise their divorce.

Cast: David Burroughs-Parke – Bobby         Hazel Bonnin – Shelley

The Bride-to-be: Angela is marrying for the third time, to the dismay of her brother Toby and amidst a barrage of bad omens.

Cast:  Teresa Lancaster – Angela          Paul Cuttle – Toby

Performances run from Thursday 4th, Friday 5th to Saturday 6th April, at Elizabeth Hall, Raven Road, Hook, RG27 9HH at 7.45 pm ( doors open 30 mins before curtain up). There will be a raffle and a licensed bar.

Tickets (£13) are now on sale from Toucan Travel. Trees Newsagents who had previously been the box office were being refurbished last November and the lovely people at The Village Gallery stepped into the breach. Sadly for Hook Player, and the local community, The Village Gallery has now closed. Hook Players are grateful for their help over the years with raffle prizes, displaying posters etc.  They will be missed.

Fortunately Terry Thornhill and his charming chums at Toucan Travel have kindly offered to be the village outlet for Hook Players tickets, which are also available online at www.hookplayers.co.uk.
