More than 420,000 homeowners have been helped onto the ladder, or progressed, using the Government’s Help to Buy schemes, according to new government figures.
Of these 420,000 successful completions, more than 365,400 were first time buyers. “We’re helping a new generation of first time buyers realise their dream of owning a home.” John Glen, Economic Secretary to the Treasury.
The Help to Buy Equity Loan scheme remains one of the most successful, where buyers can receive a Government loan of up to 20%, requiring just a 5% deposit on new build homes. We’ve seen great success of this on a number of the housing developments we’ve sold and continue to sell. Current developments are offering Help to Buy Equity Loans on properties ranging from one bedroom apartments to three bedroom homes.
In addition to this, the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government has quoted that over 1.2million first time buyers have opened Help to Buy ISA accounts, which offer top-up funds of up to £3,000 on top of the buyers’ savings.
The MHCLG statement says that the government “is committed to making housing more affordable, with an aim to build 300,000 new homes a year in the areas that need it, as well as encouraging better use of land in cities and towns.”
We have a range of new homes currently available with Help to Buy Equity Loans, to find out more, or to be the first to know when a new property is released, please contact your local branch, or click here.
