Ed began his career in Estate Agency in Camberley, Surrey in 1972. He was responsible for launching a land and new homes business for a highly successful competitor in 1986 before stepping out in 1991 and founding Mackenzie Smith from a single office in Fleet. His specialisation in land and development along with new homes has enabled Mackenzie Smith to enjoy considerable success in this field since the formation of the company 22 years ago.
As Chairman, Ed not only steers the direction the company will take and oversees the success of all our offices and departments, but is also heavily involved in the land and new homes part of the business. Ed’s extensive background working in property sales and lettings, and with some of the most well-known new homes developers in the region, makes him the ideal figurehead for the company as we continue to grow and move forward.
My advice to anyone looking to sell is to be realistic. If you are, the market is more likely to exceed your expectations.
Stephen Tetlow Managing Director
Stephen is one of Mackenzie Smith’s most recognisable faces, having joined the company upon its opening in 1992. He has always been a driving force within the sales teams thanks to his vast experience of working in the industry since the 70s. While Stephen has valued and sold thousands of properties during his career, his attitude to his work has always remained the same. He understands that selling such a large financial asset is a huge responsibility, and he’s always willing to go the extra mile to repay his clients’ trust.
Like a lot of his peers, Stephen takes to the greens during his time off. He believes that the concentration needed to play golf makes it one of the easiest ways to switch off from work.

Tracey Easton Financial Controller
Tracey has been with Mackenzie Smith since July 2007, joining as a branch secretary advancing to PA to the MD within a year. Through lots of hard work and training, Tracey progressed to Accounts and HR Manager, more recently being promoted to Financial Controller. This diverse and challenging role is highly demanding and Tracey rises to the challenge. Her knowledge and insight into the business through these specialisms is absolute.

Rowena has joined the Head Office team in a Marketing capacity, with a background in copywriting she offers a fresh take on our property write-ups and blogs.

Katherine Gray Land Director
Starting out as Land Negotiator in 2009, then as Land Manager, Katherine has progressed to the role of Land Director, her aptitude and knowledge having grown from an abundant starting point. Katherine studied at The University of the West of England achieving an Upper Second Class Honours Qualifying Law degree and then attended The College of Law in Guildford to achieve her Legal Practice Course qualification. The Land and Property Law studied throughout her education has been of great benefit to her since joining the Company.
Katherine’s steadfast approach to land sale has made her an authority on selling land in our corner of Hampshire and Surrey over the last 9 years she has been with Mackenzie Smith. Katherine is exceptionally well versed on the planning policies of all relevant Local Authorities and the intricacies of selling land, and builds a fantastic rapport with every client she deals with. Katherine specialises in the sale of residential land and has vast experience working with a wide range of sites from single plots to large strategic sites and land assemblies.

Gary Tetlow Land Manager
Gary has recently rejoined the company and strengthened our successful land department by bringing over 30 years of experience. With knowledge as both an estate agent and within the land department of Mackenzie Smith and various other agents over his career, Gary has worked with developments of all sizes, focusing on client satisfaction as the ultimate goal.
Coming back to Mackenzie Smith, Gary is keen to offer superior service and really focus on helping the customer. This is an approach that has long been taken by our land department, where the devil is in the detail and you can never be prepared enough. The levels of attention that are given to just the smallest details sets our team apart and Gary is keen to continue this ethos.
We appreciate the only way to provide a quality service to our clients is to employ highly skilled and professional staff with the right attitude and personality.
