Our spotlight articles are a great way of introducing new members of staff, colleagues that are usually ‘behind the scenes’ and highlighting the variety of tasks our team embrace in their everyday work. This week we’d like you to meet the newest member of our accounts department, Ellie Osborne.

Ellie joined us just over two months ago to assist on the accounts side of things. “I was previously working for an engineering company in Woking, but the commute became too much from my home in Church Crookham, Fleet. I also wanted something that would challenge me, with more responsibility. The role at Mackenzie smith offered just that. The Hartley Wintney office where I’m based is only a few miles from my house, so the location was perfect, and with two primary school children, the part time hours worked for me too.”

Having grown up in Ascot, Ellie went on to move around a fair bit. Her marriage to a soldier meant relocating every 2 years, until 2016 when, moving back from Cyprus, her husband passed the selection to become an instructor at the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst.

“Moving back so close to where I grew up made me realise it was time to settle down, so we bought in Church Crookham, Fleet in 2017. Moving around so often in the past has made it difficult to settle, as we knew it was always only a matter of time before we moved on again. I’ve worked in various accounts roles for over 15 years, in all sorts of companies; from big names like Dell and Siemens to small family companies. My favourite part is when the accounts balance, there is a massive sense of achievement when things just work.”

Outside of the office, Ellie has a selection of hobbies and activities that keep her busy. “We have a Traditional Gypsy Cob pony that we take showing, however she decided to surprised us when she gave birth to a completely unexpected foal on Friday 13th April this year! It turned out she was pregnant when we bought her in November, so now we have two! I also enjoy photography and run a business doing equestrian events and lifestyle photoshoots for both equestrians and families.”

As a local herself, Ellie knows the area well, “it is perfect if you have a horse, mine are kept in an area which backs onto Minley training grounds, where I can ride out for miles.”
