Now that Halloween and Bonfire Night are over, all eyes are certainly turning towards Christmas. Many local Christmas Markets are coinciding with light switch-on events this year, so ease into your festive preparations with some great gifts, food and drink available locally and enjoy some Christmas lights at the same time!
Yateley and District Lions Club are offering seasonal fun for all ages on 30th November, at Church End Green from 3.30pm – 6.30pm, with a great variety of amusements including a Christmas lights switch on, carol singing, great traditional market stalls and even Morris dancing, with more available in St Peters Church.
Enjoy festivities in Fleet with the Christmas Festival on 27th November from 2pm – 9pm. The Christmas market is taking place on the high street, with sumptuous food and drinks, crafts and gifts available. Gurkha Square will be staging a nativity tableau with live animals, choirs and this year’s Aladdin cast as well as, of course, Father Christmas. The Harlington will also be hosting Santa’s Grotto! Parking is available in all of the usual places, excluding Gurkha Square, with free parking in the Hart Shopping Centre after 6pm.
St Johns Hook Christmas Cracker will be held on Saturday 7th December from 4.30pm on the Village Parade. Christmas Carols will be sung around the tree, followed by a stroll to St Johns. There will be a Santas Grotto for the children, a cake stall, barbecue, a craft-making stall along with free children’s crafts and a tombola, as well as much more, including a serving of traditional mince pies, accompanied with tea, coffee and warming mulled wine.
On 1st December, the Rotary Club of Odiham and Hook is also presenting their annual Hook Christmas Cracker late night shopping event on Hook parade, with a sleigh collection, with the opportunity to win your favourite whiskey in the raffle!
Enjoy a jolly Christmas Fair at Holly Lodge Primary School in Aldershot on Saturday 7th December, from 1pm-4pm.
Nearby, Twin Larder in Guildford are hosting the annual Women’s Christmas Market on Friday 29th November, from 7.30pm – 10pm. Fun-filled activities include mulled wine and craft making as well as buying gifts, whilst a live jazz band will really get you in the Christmas spirit! Tickets are available at £4 for adults and £2.50 for students for this event, open to all women aged over 14.
The Farnborough Christmas Lights switch on will be held on November 23rd this year at Princes Mead Shopping Centre, with fabulous activities accompanying the festive illuminations. There will be entertainment with Star Wars characters, along with the arrival of Father Christmas and the Christmas Competition, whilst families can enjoy face painting and a Christmas Stars and Snowflakes make and take.
On the 24th November, Father Christmas will be arriving in his grotto at Princes Mead Shopping Centre and switching on the centre lights. Families can have their photo taken with Santa and receive a gift, with the grotto staying open from 11am to 3.30pm on Saturdays and Sundays as well as the 23rd and 24th December.
The Hartley Wintney Christmas Market will be held on 5th December from 4pm – 8pm on the high street. A full range of activities will be on offer, with a variety of stalls accompanied by arts and crafts, activities for children and gifts, as well as a fireworks display at 8pm.
