The the 2014 Farnborough Airshow is now underway and after last weeks validation flights, the show flights continue to enthral as locals get a great view of what is in store for show visitors. Yesterday there were airbuses, various jets and some heavy military aeroplanes carrying out some deft manoeuvres over our estate agents Farnborough Office and we are looking forward to the show today.

The Farnborough Airshow is a big event and as such there will be disruptions with thousands of visitors pouring in and out of the town. Event organisers have worked closely with Hampshire Constabulary, Hampshire County Council and Rushmoor Borough Council to implement a comprehensive traffic management plan to reduce the impact on local traffic. These steps include the Park Road one-way system, Lynchford Road one-way system, road closures and prohibited turns, click here for full information from the event organisers. Advice from the airshow organisers for local people includes warnings about increased traffic, though organisers have focused their routes via the A325 and Lynchford Road to avoid impacting too much on local traffic.
Tannoy announcements may be audible by local residents between 7am and 7pm and have been running from 9th June to advise site traffic and staff of health and safety etc. If you do hear the tannoy in operation outside of those times you can report it to firstname.lastname@example.org, though planes can be heard much further afield! As they put it on the Farnborough Airshow Website…”Unfortunately, noise is unavoidable. It is part and parcel of the show ever since the invention of the jet engine by local hero, Frank Whittle, back in 1929”, as such if you have any pets it may be advisable to keep them inside or follow the same procedures as for fireworks displays.
The Mackenzie Smith Estate Agents Farnborough team have managed to capture some excellent photos of an airbus that seems almost too close to our high street office on Victoria road in Farnborough. Whilst in Fleet we managed to snapshot some jets darting about.
