Discover Ash, Surrey

April 29, 2020

If you’re one of the thousands of people looking to move out of London for a quieter life, but don’t want to lose the commute connections, access to culture or a great evening out, you may want to consider the semi-rural setting of Ash, in Surrey.

Last year, more than a third of a million commuters left their city behind for a slower pace of life, access to schools and a “breath of fresh air” for their families. Many have considered the picturesque towns and villages of Surrey – popular for their excellent access to road and rail links, reaching London Waterloo in under an hour, plus reputable schooling, countryside and buzzing culture and nightlife options.

One such village is Ash, situated in the Guildford Borough of Surrey. This semi-rural hotspot benefits from a local train station, less than an hour from London Waterloo. These are not the only options for commuters, as the A331 runs past the village, linking to the A31 just 2 miles to the South and the M3 to the North. The A31 in turn connects to the A3 and M25, making this a highly accessible location across the South.

Whilst local community amenities are available, including a range of schools, shops, parks and more, the market town of Farnham and the city of Guildford are both a short drive or train journey away – each presenting a host of cultural events; comedy, live music, theatre and more. Plus, both are reputable for cobbled streets, characterful charm and plenty of boutique and high street shops, with a range of bars, pubs and restaurants.

When it comes to countryside, you’re spoilt for choice. From The Ranges, Christmas Pie trail, to the South Downs and nearby attractions such as Frensham Ponds and the Devil’s Punch Bowl, there is plenty of outdoor space to explore. The local countryside is a designated area of outstanding natural beauty, and with sights like the River Blackwater, Mytchett lakes and the local fisheries – it’s easy to see why.

You’ll notice a range of properties ranging from Victorian Villas to newly built homes – with options across a wide price range depending on your budget.

Foreman Manor, from award-winning developers, Aspen Homes, has been recently built just a few minutes’ walk from Ash train station. This elegant development of just nine homes offers three, four and five bedroom options, with Help to Buy available where applicable. With quality finishes and fittings, such as Karndean flooring, fully fitted kitchens, luxury bathrooms and landscaped gardens, these brand-new homes present the perfect place to call home for any family.
