In just two weeks, the nation will be donning their Pudsey ears for another fundraising event, as BBC Children in Need returns.
For the past 8 years, BBC’s The One Show have supported this great cause with a fundraising challenge of epic proportions, The Rickshaw Challenge. This year is no different, but this time round they are venturing to our neck of the woods with an overnight stop in Hook.
The team of 6 young people, all of who have benefited from Children in Need funded projects, will be joined in their cycle by presenter, Matt Baker. The 7 of them will kick off the challenge in Calais on 9th November, cycling 423 miles over the course of 8 days to end in Salford for the big event on Friday 16th November.
Their journey will bring them to Hook on the third day, Sunday 11th November at approximately 7pm, where they will be finishing at Hook Junior School, they’ll also be setting off from here the next day.
The Rickshaw Challenge alone has contributed £21 million since it’s first year back in 2011, supporters can get involved by taking part in ‘Ride with team Rickshaw’, associated with Strava, the fitness app, where you can cycle at your own pace, in your own environment but add the miles and the fundraising to the grand total.

From all of us here at Mackenzie Smith, we wish team Rickshaw the very best of luck with their challenge and look forward to greeting them in Hook and along their travels through Hart.
