We were blessed with a fine weekend for the Hartley Wintney Festival which had a great turn out and brought many smiles.

The procession from 12.30 led around the village green and to the heart of the celebrations, the ‘Festival Arena’. The procession of cars, floats and people (many in fancy dress) was vibrant and jolly.

Attendees enjoyed ice cream, tea and scones, refreshments from the bar and of course the huge BBQ sponsored by Mackenzie Smith, the enticing smell of which cannot be ignored.

There were races for the children and the infamous tug of war, with other arena events including a Marching Band musical display and Morris Men.

There was plenty more entertainment for the afternoon with The Pinxton Puppet Show, animals to pet, sumo wrestling, bouncy castle, beat the goalie and a mini playground plus a whole range of stalls run by local clubs and societies and a superb display of classic cars.

All in all a fantastic family day out and plenty of money raised for local charities and good causes including Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice.
