Here at Mackenzie Smith, our dedicated team are what really sets us apart. If you’ve done business with us before, you’ll know how hard we work both as individuals and as a team to collectively ensure that our reputation precedes us and to which our Trustpilot reviews are testament.
With that in mind, we thought it was high time to introduce you to the team and this week you’re stuck with me, I’m Vicky Jarman and I’m the (fairly new) Marketing Manager.
You may have seen the occasional blog post or Thistleblower introduction from me, but otherwise that’s probably it. As part of the backstage crew at Mackenzie Smith I’m not often public facing, however I do like to get out on the occasional valuation with our sales team, just to see what’s going on.
I joined Mackenzie Smith three months ago, so am a recent addition to the team here, taking on the great challenge of marketing your homes, new homes and of course the Mackenzie Smith brand itself. The to-do list is quite literally endless, as with every new property to the market comes a write-up and blog opportunity. Every new client sparks a creative idea, a different way of looking at the market and presents new marketing potential.
Mackenzie Smith has been my introduction to the world of property, I’ve always worked in marketing but have enjoyed promoting a variety of products and services throughout my career to date. It’s great to enter a new industry as there is always something new to learn, and of course new ideas to explore. The great thing about marketing for estate agencies is that everyone, even outside of the industry, talks about houses. Whether it’s a rental property, first home, retirement home or large estate house, there are so many different aspects, characters involved and discussions to be had. I am never short of topics to talk about, or people to talk to!
Having moved from the print industry to estate agency, I looked to Mackenzie Smith as a company that offered a great heritage, a great brand and an ethos that I could work with. The team here have been selling and letting homes in the area for almost 25 years. A company with that level of knowledge and reputation is quite rare, but it does pose a potential problem. The brand identity is so strong here at Mackenzie Smith that I am cautious to act as a ‘caretaker’ for the brand, rather than a Laurence Llewelyn Bowen running wild with overhauls. Chances are you’ve spoken with Mackenzie Smith in the past and likely know the lengths we go to in order to deliver the best customer service. If you don’t, take the opportunity to read our recent Trustpilot blog; a company this reputable does not need a marketing overhaul, but rather a guardian to ensure it stays on track.
My favourite part of the job has to be that no two homes are the same; different owners, different styles and different locations means our marketing team always have something new to say. It’s also really exciting to get stuck into a new homes project. We have a wide variety of developments under construction at the moment across our branch network, which offer up a creative challenge as a blank slate to promote.
One thing you might have picked up on through reading this, is that I love a challenge. This rather dangerous approach has lead to jumping out of aeroplanes, cave diving, bungy jumping, white water rafting and most recently completing the London Marathon. I think a few of my colleagues here are dreading the day I suggest a fundraising team skydive!
2017 poses its own challenges, with our 25th Birthday on the horizon and lots of other exciting plans in the pipeline. It will be my role to bring them to life and ensure we remain one of the most trusted and successful agencies in the area.
