With that in mind, we’re highlighting the hard work of our team by re-introducing them in a bi-weekly blog. This week we’d like you to meet Francis Williams, our new Senior Lettings Negotiator.

Francis has an interesting story to tell, having recently made the move from sales to lettings. As a Mackenzie Smith employee for four years, and with a sales negotiator career spanning forty years, this is certainly an exciting move.

 Francis WilliamsFrancis first joined the world of estate agency thanks to a school friend who chose this line of work, and it seemed more appealing than his career in banking so he decided to try his hand at it. His first agency experience involved Francis working alongside Ed and Steve, our Managing and Sales Directors, hence the natural move to Mackenzie Smith four years ago. His decision to move to Mackenzie Smith at that time was also contributed to by the fact that as an Independent Agency, we offer a different level of service and employee satisfaction.

Francis’s favourite aspect of the job is the interaction with clients, being a people person Francis can make personal connections that are hugely important as an agent, arguably more so on the lettings side. The move from sales to lettings came at the perfect time for both Francis and our lettings team, Francis had always wanted to experience the lettings side of the business, and with a vacancy available it was the perfect match. “The biggest difference I’ve noticed is the pace. It’s great to be involved in the quick turnaround of transactions, rather than the process of working weeks and sometimes months for a sale to exchange and complete.”

2015 Let BoardAs our lettings department continues to go from strength to strength, they are thrilled to have gained a colleague who they already know in a professional capacity, who knows how we operate at Mackenzie Smith and who has proven to exhibit a wealth of expertise.

Francis has worked in and around the Fleet area for his career, as such combines a wealth of industry experience with local knowledge; “the easy access to excellent country walks and local, good pubs sets this area apart as a great semi-rural location to settle in.”

Whilst it wouldn’t be fair for Francis to say which side of the agency life he prefers, his most memorable transaction did take place during his time in sales, “I helped a family move from the USA to Ascot and was involved in finding a suitable school for their child – no pressure! I also had to organise a full refurbishment of their property in advance of moving in, for me it was a memorable experience and a demonstration that as an agent we do go above and beyond for a client. It all goes back to being a people person, connecting with clients and building a relationship where they can return to you 10 years down the line, safe in the knowledge that they can trust you with the sale (or let) of their home.”

When Francis isn’t exploring Fleet’s countryside, he is a keen cook and a tough table tennis opponent.
