Jason Bowden, Assistant Branch Manager at the Ash Vale office of Mackenzie Smith takes a walk down memory lane and describes how he got into the industry…
“I fell into estate agency, my mum had a hairdressing salon, with an estate agent next door, she introduced me to him, and I interviewed him on what the job was like and the best route to go into it; ‘independent or corporate agencies.”
Jason showed his tenacity from the start…
“At home in London called through the yellow pages cold calling all the managers asking for a trainee position at estate agents across the area, I got an interview with General Accident Property Services for their Surbiton office (now re-branded Your Move) which was owned by Norwich Union.
“I got very good training from Steve Truman (now owner of Lauristons) and ongoing training from Clare Mansfield, so have built up then and over the years an extensive knowledge of how estate agency works and the best ways to help clients.
“I have always loved properties and architecture which is a good thing having been in the Estate Agency business since 1995. I have been at Mackenzie Smith for about 6 years now and love it.
“Living in Ash Vale for the last 10 years really helps me know and sell the benefits of the area, as well as pin down accurate valuations, and is one of the reasons clients instruct me.
“When I’m out of the office I enjoy travelling and reading self development books, this is one of my favourite quotes about recognising the need to see and make change; ‘No individual, no company can really achieve greatness unless they admit there’s something wrong’.”
