Hook is a large village situated in North Hampshire approximately six miles east of Basingstoke. Initially a very small settlement the construction of Hook railway station in 1883 saw the village grow with an influx of railway workers and commuters. Hook railway station offers direct rail links to both London Waterloo and Southampton with indirect routes to Reading and Salisbury. Surrounding smaller villages include Nately Scures, Rotherwick and Newham.

There is a significant business community in the town, with the large Bartley Wood Business Park situated less than a mile from the village centre. It is the location of the operational headquarters of the United Kingdom's largest cable television provider, Virgin Media Inc, formerly NTL and Telewest. Other companies locating in Hook are BMW Group Financial Services, Lenovo, Serco, Trimble Navigation, Old Mutual and EDS.
Between 2004 and 2006, Hook expanded eastwards with the development of the new Holt Park residential district. Local infant and primary schools have received significant investment recently. There is a Tesco Supermarket in the village. Local youth and adult cricket and football clubs are centred around the village community centre.
