A research report ‘AA State of the Nation’s Homes’ by AA Home Emergency Response has found that the dream home of the British public is not a vast mansion, castle or country estate, it’s actually a three-bedroom semi-detached property in a village location.
We have found this to be quite accurate, having seen the four traditionally styled 3 bedroom ‘Forge Cottages’ at the Coach House Court development within Yateley Green Conservation Area all go under offer in just over a week of the launch. There are still two 2 bedroom houses available on the charming development.
Fortunately there are more new three bedroom homes coming to the market in the nearby village of Hartley Wintney. Harpsden Mews is another sympathetically designed development which fits in so well with its village surroundings, offering a traditional character and style whilst delivering modern comfort and convenience in the heart of the village.
The research also showed that a large open plan kitchen/dining area is a most sought after feature, ideal for entertaining. The four homes at Harpsden Mews all feature an open plan kitchen/dining room but also an airy living room which is open plan to the conservatory so there is ample space to entertain guests.
Homes in the countryside continue to be popular, research indicating that 34% of people want to live in a rural location, yet only 18% of the housing stock is in a rural area. This emphasises the importance of these tasteful niche developments in village locations to help meet the demand as second hand property coming to the market is often in short supply.
Mackenzie Smith, selling agents of both developments, also have second hand property available in some very desirable Hampshire villages, including Rotherwick and Hartley Wintney. However the three bedroom semi detached combination can be hard to come by; there is a stunning three bedroom character cottage for sale overlooking the Village Green in Hartley Wintney, it is detached, there are many character cottages available in Hartley Wintney predominantly with two bedrooms for example.
The addition of new homes does mean there is currently a broad selection of properties available in these most desirable areas, to meet the needs of a variety of homebuyers, however there is no guarantee the most in demand styles will be available for long. Therefore call Mackenzie Smith if you are interested in purchasing or selling property in the area, Hartley Wintney 01252 844015, Hook 01256 764666 or visit www.mackenziesmith.co.uk for details of all our offices and properties for sale.
