2012 has been a busy year for events so far, with the Diamond Jubilee, Euro 2012 football tournament, Wimbledon and now the Olympics and school summer holidays. It has been fantastic to have so much excitement, especially centred around the UK, but it can be a distraction in our already busy lives, so the question is: have these events had an impact on the housing market?

In my opinion, the answer is yes they have had an effect, mostly in terms of the timing. Certain weeks of this year it has been noticeable that the people we have registered have other things on their minds other than looking at houses. Conversely, we have had weeks pass by where we have been run off our feet and sales have come very easily.

So, looking at the bigger picture, although these events have disrupted buyer activity at times, levels of business overall have not been affected.  In fact here at the Ash Vale office we have had a very successful first half of the year and project that properties in Ash Vale and the surrounding areas will continue to sell strongly due to the appeal of the area and properties within.
